Invitation to After5 meeting, Sydney, Tuesday February 24 2015

Just before Christmas, iSentia (formerly Media Monitors)  and CAL (representing Australian publishers) forged a landmark agreement.

Isentia will now be able to monitor content “behind the paywalls” giving their clients access to previously unavailable but vitally important media coverage. This development allows the “scraping” of certain news and magazine content.  iSentia will harvest headlines and portions of text from online articles and deliver news alerts to clients across multiple platforms. The alerts will include links taking clients to the original article on the publishers website. Clients will receive alerts about content directly relevant to their business or services. This is the first Australian agreement launching a new licensing framework for scraping online content. And while many consider online news the only future, and print an outdated medium, emerging trends show that there is a continued and essential relationship built between print and online in both breaking news as well as post event analysis.

Luke Allen, Isentia’s Commercial Director for NSW, ACT & Qld has extensive experience across both corporate and government entities and will discuss how these groups are adopting the transition into digital media, both social and online, as well as keeping a close eye on print.  This is a great opportunity to hear about this important development in the online delivery of alerts from the Australian press.
