Invitation to After5 Meeting in Sydney on April 2nd 5.30pm

Have you been able to keep right up to date with all the changes in news sources, particularly the developments with new ones?

  • The Global Mail’s project-based digital journal has ceased operations following the termination of funding by philanthropist Graeme Wood. Will that audience even bother with the Mail Online’s new Australian-market tilt?
  • Do you know that your industry super is probably contributing funding for Melbourne-based The New Daily with experienced directors Bruce Guthrie and Eric Beecher?
  • Do you know your way around the reportedly thriving Guardian Australia as an alternate news source?
  • On how many business sites can you find contributions by Alan Kohler?
  • Are you taking part in The Conversation?
  • Have you ever succumbed to ‘Click Bait’?
  • Are you listed with BuzzFeed?
  • Are you following the emergence of Morry Schwartz’s The Saturday Paper launched in Melbourne on the same day that Fairfax converted The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald to an entirely broadsheet format?
  • Have you heard about Allure Media, Australia’s fastest growing Top 20 publisher and their sites Business Insider, Gizmodo, Kotaku, Lifehaker, Popsugar, and Shopstyle?

To help us explore the geography of the emerging new media our next speaker will be Chris Pash, well-known from his former role at Dow Jones’ Factiva and now with Allure Media.  There is certainly a lot going on and Chris will give us a road-map around the landscape.
