Invitation to After5 Meeting in Sydney on February 19th 5.30pm

Topic: The Evolving Role of the Librarian/Knowledge Manager

Speaker: Carl Olson, Commercial Director Thomson Reuters Australia

Here is a refreshing change – a speaker who will not only speak, but is coming to listen to what delegates have to say!

Our first speaker for 2014 is Carl Olson, Commercial Director, Thomson Reuters Australia.

Carl will provide a vendor’s perspective on the evolving role of the librarian/knowledge manager.  He will cover issues such as convergence, mobility and data security and also reflect on the changing cast of characters and functions that vendors deal with at client organisations.  This will be from a comprehensive perspective across multiple Thomson Reuters business units.

Then he will be seeking audience feedback on broad issues such as:

  • The changing relationship between IT, procurement, KM and other corporate functions within different industries.
  • The value placed on integration between research, alerting, workflow, matter management and other systems.
  • How vendors can support knowledge professionals to reposition themselves and the value they deliver.

Here is a great opportunity for you to talk about your role, what it is now, and what you would like it to be.  We will look forward to what we hope will be a very lively meeting!  And remember we will welcome your friends too as long as they let me know they would like to attend.
